Recent Happenings

On September 23rd, 2017 Massachusetts Youth Committed to Winning participated in our inaugural year as a charity partner of Rodman Ride for Kids.
MYCW was honored to be a part of the 2017 Rodman Ride for Kids which offered riders 25, 50 and 100 mile courses beginning in Foxboro, MA. Team MYCW was thrilled to participate in the 27th year of the largest single day athletic event in the nation supporting at-risk youth. It was a beautiful fall day and our all-star team of MYCW Alumni rode 25 miles to raise money for the great programs at MYCW. Because the event was underwritten by the folks at Rodman, 100% of what we raised will go to support our critical tutoring and recreational programming. Thank you to our sponsors and supporters for making this great day possible.

MYCW participated in a workshop presented by Boston vs. Bullies on December 3, 2017 at TD Garden. Sponsored by the New England Sports Museum, Boston vs. Bullies engages students in an interactive discussion and presentation about bullying–how to identify it and what to do about it. The program provided our 4-6th graders a forum for discussing the concept of bullying–our students watched videos and participated in small group discussions about bullying. In addition, the program offered our students effective tools for intervening when they see someone being bullied at school or among their peers. After the workshop, our youth were taken on a behind-the-scenes tour of the New England Sports Museum, where they were able to touch and feel an original leather hockey helmets, compare their shoe size to those of Celtics greats and get a birds-eye view of the entire Garden from the Press Box level.
Many thanks to our friends at the New England Sports Museum, Boston vs. Bullies and the TD Garden for making this Life Skills Session truly one of our best ever!

Executive Director Andre John was honored as a finalist for the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network Excellence in Leadership Award at the Massachusetts State House on June 5, 2017. Families from Boston, Brockton and Taunton enjoyed food, face-painting, bouncy houses, outdoor games and fun pick-up basketball in celebration of the MCYW Family. It was a wonderful day and we already look forward to next year!!
